Why Does Download Open in the Browser?

Learn why some media files open in a new browser tab and how to save them properly on desktop, iPhone, and Android.

Browser behavior

Some browsers preview MP4 files instead of downloading them immediately. This is normal browser behavior.

If this happens, use the browser save option or long press the download button on mobile.

Desktop: right click the video and choose Save video as.
iPhone: long press the download button and choose Download Linked File or Save to Files.
Android: open the browser menu and choose download if the file opens in a player.
